Fajitas and homemade salsa!
Last night it was N's turn to cook for supper club. She decided to make two different kinds of homemade salsa, and chicken fajitas. Take a look:
One kind (bottom) was a spicy pico de gallo kind of salsa, with lots of tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, chili peppers and onions. The other kind (top) was a sweet tangy salsa. It was made with pineapples (the recipe called for mango's, and since those are out of season, she improvised - for the better I think, the pineapple turned out fabulous), chilies, cucumber, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil and some salt and pepper.
For the chicken fajitas:
N did a great job!
Next week is my turn, yikes...I have to start planning ahead for the dinner. Since J is coming over tonight, maybe I'll try something out on him since he will eat anything I put in front of him (even if it is burned and over salted)- such a nice guy :-)

Red Bones
I Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Last night J took me to one of Somervilles best places for BBQ. Red Bones, is just a few blocks away from J's place so it was perfect. We got there around 8, and the hostess told us it would probably be an hour wait - no problem, we'll hang out at the bar! So we had a couple of budlights and took in the scenary. The walls were splashed with colorful graphics -even the ceiling! They also had over 25 different beers on tap which would appeal to the snobby beer loving people - however I'll just stick to my BL :-)
After about an hour, the hostess showed us to our seat in the over-crowded restaruant. Even though we were pracically sitting on top of our fellow diners, it was all part of the atmosphere! I ordered the appetizer combo #3, which was three ribs and three chicken wings (I know a ton of food, but J helped finish it off). I also ordered a side of hushpuppies and lots of dipping sauces. J ordered a huge pile of meat - no joke it was about 10 different types of ribs, beans and cole slaw. The food was incredible, absolutly fall off the bone delicious! I would hands down reccommend anyone that is in the Somerville area, and doesn't mind the wait, to head on into red bones!

Leap Year
Happy Friday Everyone!
Last night my friends and I all went to go see Leap Year. It was fantastically predictable, and cute, exactly what I love about 'girl movies'! Although some would disagree with this statement, but I just found Amy McAdams a little unflattering in the movie. Its like they dressed her with a size too small dress/skirt/tops...it just didnt make her look all that amazing.
Also yesterday, we didn't find anything at Second Time Around, but on the way back we stopped in Lord and Taylor. For the past several days I have been a class A stalker for this bag. It was just a little out of my price range. So after I showed B the bag I was lusting after, the sales person told me to bring it to the counter to see how much it would be. Okay...strange...I see that it is $185. So I brought it to the counter and started scanning all these coupons in, which made the price of the bag jump down to $117!!! Wow!!!! So I put it on hold, just to make sure I really wanted it - who am I kidding, of course I want it! So I went back and bought it, take a look:
I tried explaining to J that every girl living in a city NEEDS a work bag, something to carry their gym clothes, lunch, sweater, flats...whatever you may need, and because I need this bag everyday, that this is a great investment! Somethings they wont get...
Have a great Friday!

Second Time Around
This morning reconfirmed that I want to someday get an English bulldog and name him marshmallow! As I was walking, I saw the cutest bulldog off in the distance, alone. I know :-(! He was brown and white, his tongue was too large for his mouth so it was sticking out on the side, just walking along. At first, I wanted to scoop him up and find his owners, but I have to get to work and I cant exactly scoop him up as he is well over 65 lbs. Then I looked up and his owner was in the doorway of their apartment building, which I was amazed at! That is so cool, this dog can just go out mozy around, go to the bathroom then head back up the stairs where his owner is...wow my dog is so going to be doing that especially when it is bitter cold out!
I'm so excited, today at lunch I'm meeting up with B to go to the store Second Time Around! Look at this sign in the window:
I know, everything is 70% off! That is rediculous!
Stay tuned to see if I get anything ;-)

Supper Club- M's Turn
Last night was our weekly supper club and it was incredible! M decided to make three homemade pizza's; Cheese, BBQ chicken, and Bertucci's Silano.
The dough was also homemade by Bostone Pizza.
Then all three were prepped and ready to go into the oven.
After about 15 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees, they were ready to come out and cool off.
The plain cheese pizza with half broccoli.
Ingredients needed:
1. Dough
2. Tomato sauce
3. Mozzarella
4. Parmesan cheese
5. cooked broccoli
The BBQ Chicken Pizza
Ingredients needed:
1. Dough
2. Sweet baby rays BBQ sauce
3. Chicken (M used the pre-cooked kind, so we didn't have to worry about cooking the chicken as well)
4. Smoked Gouda cheese
5. Parmesan Cheese
6. Caramelized Onions (2 yellow onions, 6 cloves of minced garlic and 3 tps of thyme)
Bertucci's homemade Silano Pizza
Ingredients needed:
1. Dough
2. Cream sauce (whipping cream,6 tps of lemon juice, 6 tps Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper)
3. cooked Broccoli
4. chicken
As always, I freaking love supper club!!

Happy Birthday Mom!
Today is my Mom's birthday. I still need to get her something, (she already knows it will be late) but here is what I was thinking about getting her:
with matching earrings:
She absolutely loves Chicos, so I am just going to check the store first, and if they do not have something that I like better, then I am going to order that set for her.
This weekend was good. Just watched Ocean's 13 on Friday night, then Saturday did some errands. Then on Saturday night we just drank some wine and played darts FOR HOURS. I woke up today and my whole right side hurt and there is nothing else to blame but playing competitive darts with the boys for hours on end to explain the soreness. This leads me to believe that I am officially pathetic...I mean come on, DARTS?! I need to start working out more. And according to N, my horoscope is telling me to get my work outs in gear for 2010!
I cant wait until after work, I'm meeting up with my co-worker B for drinks and apps. I think we will probably go to the cheesecake factory because it is really good, love catching up and chatting in booths and its the half way point between our buildings! :-)
Have a good Monday all!

Hello spring time!
Haircut went well the other day, and because I was 10 minutes late I didn't have time to take a few pics, next time! But it did turn out really well. Even though many questioned whether I did actually get my haircut (it was just a trim), and was cleaned up a bit on the ends, I'm happy with the turnout!
So it's not technically spring time here in Boston, but it is a whopping 40 degrees out. Yay for warm weather!
This makes me want to look at spring time items that I want to some day buy...
Bag for the beach:
Since I have had the same black longchamp bag for three years, perhaps a new one for the spring/summer:
I'm not sure which color I like the best...
Or...
Who knows, have a great weekend!

Finally getting a haircut!
Hello everyone!
So last night was pretty relaxing, j came over and polished off all the supper club leftovers which isn't too surprising. Everything tasted good reheated except the brie wasn't as melty as the night before (perhaps I could have left it in the oven longer, but J was starving...), but it was still very good!
Tonight I'm getting my haircut at Liquid Hair Salon, its this great place in the south end. You can kind of see how funky it is inside on the website, but I will try to remember to take a few pics tonight when I go. They have a disco ball in the middle, an Elvis shrine in the bathroom, cheetah print walls by the shampoo station and oh yea, the hair dressers look like they are in a rock band. From funky spiked hair that is multi-colored (that's what my amazing hairdresser looks like, but it is professionally done, so it makes the look really cool) to tight black pants to leather everywhere. I know, it doesn't seem like the type of place one would wonder into, but my old boss suggested going there and I fell in love with it! Oh and did I mention wine and cheese night on Friday or the fact that it is only $35 for a haircut?! Okay, okay I'll stop ranting about my hair salon, but really if anyone wants a great cut, go there!
After my haircut, I'll either be productive and go to the gym (which is really what I should do if I need to get into a bathing suit in 25 days! :-)) or go meet N and S at a trendy bar for good drinks...hmm..tough decision to make!

Results of Supper Club
Well everything turned out great! I ended up making the cucumber sandwiches, the baked brie and the asparagus tart. Although we didn't eat until about 8:00, everything was timed correctly and came out delicious!
Take a look:
It looks good doesn't it? I cant wait to have a big apartment some day and be able to entertain lots of people, for now, we will just squish into my little tiny studio!
I also wanted to share a few photos from the Jersey Shore Party:

Supper Club - My turn
HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE!
Supper club is tonight! WOOHOOO!!! And guess what? Its my turn...yikes! I have decided to go with appetizers as my contribution to Supper Club.
On the Menu:
1. Baked Brie with Wheat Thins
2. Cucumber sandwiches (Thanks B for the recipe!)
3. __________
Options for the 3rd item:
1. Tart with asparagus and Parmesan cheese
2. French Onion dip with either ruffle chips or pretzels, I feel like pretzels will be healthier? (dont worry the dip will be homemade, out of the cookbook A gave me for Christmas)
3. Puffed Pastry with pepperoni and Parmesan cheese
Any thoughts?
I hope this will be enough for four girls (Yours truly, N, M and S)? Also, N suggested doing it at my place, which I'm actually leaning towards, it might be really tight but it could be a change of scenery!

Its a Jersey Shore Weekend
Well I had a great weekend!
Friday night J and I just hung out and watched tv, fell asleep around 9:00 and didn't wake up until the next morning at 8 am, apparently I was exhausted after last week! Then on Saturday S came up to Boston to look for a J-O-B and apartment! We went to the Jersey Shore party, which was a lot of fun, then woke up on Sunday to go to brunch. We decided on the Beehive in the south end. I have been there before (about a year ago went there with my cousins when they came to visit) but I completely forgot about it. It has such a great feel, between the great chic decorations, to the live band playing jazz music, its a great place for hanging out with friends for hours! In addition to the great atmosphere, the food is incredible. N and L had french onion soup to start, I had a bite and WOW that could have been my meal! Then I had this grilled cheese and short rib sandwich, which was so good!
All in all, a fun weekend.

Happy Birthday M!
Wow she is the first to turn 24, but certainly not the last. I hope she has an amazing day and cannot wait to meet up with her tonight to begin the celebrations! I'm not sure where we will be going tonight, but she did mention going to this new bar called Post 360 in the south end that opened up a few months ago, so that might be fun. It doesn't really matter where we go though, we'll have fun at any bar.
After tonight, M is hosting a ridiculous 'Jersey Shore' Party this weekend at a friends house. Here are the details:
"Everyone loves the show so we are bringing the Jersey Shore to 35 East Concord St. Come and party like Paulie D at Headliners on the 4th of July. Guys, bring your tightest, rhinestone Ed Hardy and Affliction T's (or anything with crosses or flaming skulls on them), your dopest jeans, stunner shades and blowouts. Ladies, let JWOWW be your fashion muse for the night. We will have a keg, Jaeger Bombs and of course, Ron Ron Juice (its the root of all evil). So come and help Margaux and I fist pump like champs as we celebrate our birthdays. Let me leave you with some rules to live by from The Situation straight out of the Guido Handbook: Shave last minute, haircut the day of, maybe some tanning and the gym. And always remember, never fall in love at the Jersey Shore."
I haven't planned my outfit yet but I am sure it will be Jersey Shore 'appropriate'

Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Supper club was last night, and N really out did herself! She made steak with Bearnaise sauce, green beans with Parmesan cheese, and mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. It was absolutely delicious! N ended up using 4 different recipe books (seriously I think she is a die hard chef), a brand new Le Creuset grill pan and many long hours of preparing. N is probably suffering from some sort of pain to her right arm after whipping the Bearnaise sauce for about an hour, but it was definitely worth it!
Take a look:
Even though supper club or 'super club' as some have called it, is 'invite only' (haha) hopefully S will be in Boston soon to join the club!

My Plant
So last night was sorta an uneventful night, just went to the gym and made dinner for myself. While I was at the gym though, it must be everyone trying to get back into shape as their 'new years resolution' because the gym was so packed! Every single machine was being used (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair masters...EVERYTHING!) the staff at BSC started making a line (6 people deep) and staring at everyone that was taking more than 30 min on a machine. I would have just walked out of there if I had to wait in a line, fortunately I somehow cut the line and hopped on an elliptical when a girl was finished.
So I have successfully grown a plant, first time ever. I told myself that if I am able to grow a plant I can take care of a puppy...maybe? Haha probably not, but I am happy with the results:
Tonight, is supper club, woohoo! Its N's turn and I think she mentioned something about steak...stay tuned...

New Years Day!
I hope everyone had a great New Years and long weekend, I know I certainly did!
New Years Eve, I went over to J's apt where he had some friends over to bring in 2010. I made baked Brie (a delicious recipe that my boss gave me), along with some humus and carrots.
Here is a pic of the Baked Brie:
Needless to say it was very good!
Ingredients:
Wheel of brie
Raspberry Jam
Almonds (chopped)
puffed pastry
egg
water
Wheat thins
After a great new years eve, I woke up on Friday and headed towards the city to meet up with N, M and S. We all got ready and left for Marblehead for M's parents New Years day party. It was a fun day which we ended by going to a local bar: Maddies.
A few pics of Marblehead:
Then on Saturday, we were going to head back to Boston, but we had a little car trouble. M's house is right on the water so after waiting four hours for the tow truck to come, we thought the wait was over. However after the tow truck turned around, it slid in the snow about 20 feet, another 10 feet, he would have ended up in the harbor. So he had to call another tow truck to come get him out. So after two tow trucks, they were finally able to get the little VW out of the snow and up to a mechanic. Then we took M's Moms car back to Boston.
Then on Saturday night we went out to dinner to this little Mexican restaurant, Casa Romero on Glouster street between Newbury and Comm Ave. It was so good! We had home made guac, cheese dips, tacos, chips and salsa to name a few things! Then we headed out to the bars. Because it was snowing so much, we decided to go to a little place around the corner, Daisy B's. It was a great night!
Now, the next step: get S to move up to Boston! I think we did a decent job of convincing her, but hopefully she will be up here in no time!
