Week update

Vacation was amazing! So nice to have no schedule, and just be able to relax!

I got back on Wednesday night and headed to M and N's place for a glass of wine and to catch up, N made this delicious cold pasta that I had to help myself to! Then yesterday I went to a red sox game (my first!) which was so fun! Fenway is such a great park, I can totally see why there is so much talk about going to the games!

Then this weekend I head back down to Baltimore to hang with the fam by the poolside! Also need to go and see SATC 2 which I cannot even believe I haven't seen yet!

Because I went from Punta Cana to Baltimore, then back up to Boston to stay here for just 2 days to leave again for Baltimore, I have come to the conclusion that I desperately need to buy a computer! It would have been so nice to just stay in Baltimore, work from home, and fly back on Monday. I'm thinking Mac bookpro - any thoughts?

Happy Friday everyone!

Chicken and Mushroom Pasta

So last night, Margaux decided to make Chicken and Mushroom Pasta which is one of Jamie Oliver's dishes! It was the perfect dish for a cold rainy Tuesday night!

Also, on the side she made some asparagus with sun dried tomatoes. Shaws was out of green asparagus, so we went with the white - very strange looking, but certainly tasted the same!

Abbie comes to Boston!

I had an amazing weekend with my friend Abbie! She flew in late friday night, so we just hung out, ate dinner and drank some wine.

On Saturday we went and had brunch at American Joes on Newbury street. They have the best eggs Benedict and mimosas!

We walked around Newburry street, did some shopping - it was awesome. Then Saturday night, we went to Haru for sushi, and headed to Clery's. It was way too packed, and the line to get in was definitely not moving. So we decided to go to Dillions on Boylston street. That place also had a crazy long line so we walked down Boylston street to Lir. Once we got in there, it was a lot of fun.

Sunday we woke up and went for brunch at Globe, which was absolutely delicious!

PLEASE COME BACK TO BOSTON ABBIE!!!!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

Since everyone at work decided to bring in something delicious for Friday's breakfast, I set out to make something new - I'll take any excuse to make a new baking recipe!

I found this Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake on Annie Eats - my go to for good food recipes!

It was super easy, and if your a baker, you will most likely have about 90% of the ingredients. I definitely recommend making this dish if you have a sweet tooth in the morning!

My work friend, Z, is now going to be putting my dishes on a grading scale:

Texture: B-: It was a little dry, but the extra chocolate chips even that out. If they were a little thinner it would have been less of an issue.
Flavor: A-: It tastes awesome
Overall Grade: B+

Also - this weekend, so excited, my friend Abbie is coming to visit!

Cinco de Mayo - A week late

In honor of Cinco de Mayo and it being my turn for SC - I decided to do mexican. Although we were supposed to do it last week, everyone was a little too busy to get together, so we pushed it back.

I decided to try out one of The Pinoneer Woman's Recipes for Quesadillas de Camarones and they were delicious!

(sorry for the blurry pics, dang iphone...)

On the side I had Mexican Rice, sour cream, salsa, and homemade guac

For the Guac, I use the following:
2 avocados
1 tomato
1 red onion
1 lime
1 clove garlic
salt and pepper to taste

5-4-3-2-1-0

Last night I met up with all the book club ladies (minus one) and went to Noir. What an amazing place, located right around the corner from the Harvard t-stop! They have incredible happy hour specials that we all dove right into!

$5 - flatbread pizzas
$4 - Sandwiches
$3 - Snacks
$2 - Salads
$1 - Sweets
$0 - nuts

How can you beat that?! Their menu had a wide array of delicious entrees and appetizers at a price that you couldn't say no to, so I'll take one of each :-)

We all shared the mac and cheese dip and the spinach and artichoke dip. Then I had a goat cheese with dried peaches on a bed mixed greens tossed in lime vinaigrette! So good!

(Pics from google)

Can't wait to start reading the book and meeting up with you ladies in a few weeks! Happy reading!

First book club meeting!!

So excited for tonight, we are all meeting up to talk about book club! The place: Noir in Harvard square! I've never been there before, but it looks like it is right off the harvard t stop, so it shouldnt be too hard to find, hopefully!

Day Dresses for Work

A friend from work asked me where I often go for fun day dresses that are casual enough but are still able to pull them off at work. So I went on a hunt, and found a few that I absolutely love:

Nordstrom: Donna Ricco $118.00

Nordstrom: Donna Morgan $118.00

Nordstrom: Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique $148.00

Gap: $69.50

Nordstrom: Lauren by Ralph Lauren $199.00

Gap: $39.50

I so badly want to be able to pull off a romper (this isnt for work, just something I really want/want to be able to wear one day):
Nordstroms Ella Moss: $132.00

The key is length! Make sure your dress touches your knees and that the neck line isn't too low, and you will be good to go! For any thin strapped dresses, ALWAYS wear a cardigan!

Weekend Fun

This weekend was pretty fun. On Friday I went out with work friends to McGreevey's for a drink or two. Then I left and met up with my friend Amy and her roommate Liza for drinks at Tias. Then we left a little early, and my friend Nikki called to see what I was up to (she went back to McGreevey's after the game) so I headed back there.

Then on Saturday, Margs and I went to get our toes done. Then we met up with Nia and went to Uburger for lunch which is sort of like Five Guys. After, we headed up to Marblehead for the night. Always a good time.

(view from marg's porch)

Then on Sunday, Margs decided to make sticky buns for her mom, we Nia and I both helped. They were so delicious and terribly bad for you, but gotta love Barefoot Contessa!

Wayy out of my price range, but I do love the grey, From South Moon Under for $355

I absolutely love this one from Jcrew for $138- how shocking :-)

I just want to be 'hands free' when I go out! :-)

I'm very excited because I have decided to apartment hunt. I don't want to live in my teeny tiny studio anymore, instead I would like a spacious apartment where I can lounge around with roommates and friends. I don't mind a commute or being out of the back bay area - hopefully it will work out and I will fall in love with the idea of living outside the city once I see the neighborhoods!
