Bowling!

(photo via)

I'm so excited, my friend of work asked me to fill in on his bowling team! I played two weeks ago, so hopefully I will be a bit better. I'm a little nervous though because this team means business, and so does our undefeated competition!

Hahaha, friend sent the group this picture, I just had to share...

J.P Morgan Corporate Challenge!

(google image)

Today I am running my first 5K in what feels like a 100 years. Well I guess the last one I did was Race for the Cure...when I was in high school. Awesome. It should be fun, we all got funny shirts that say 'Run like you stole something from an online store' haha we are cleaver!

After talking with a few people that have done this race in the years past, it is a bit like running with Cattle, turning corners leads to people walking, and the walkers will go 6 people wide, so this should be more of a social event than anything else - which I think is great for my first 5k!

Also, the weather for this afternoon is hideous. It is supposed to be torrential downpour, lighting and thundering with a chance of hail. Perfect.

Well this should be a fun evening, I'm just looking forward to hanging out with my work friends!

Happy Thursday!

Ohh Gaga!

Thanks DJ for sending me this:

That serves you right Gaga for wearing crazy Matrix outfits with ridiculous heels!

Stephy's first SC

Since S has been to Boston several times, she has only been a guest at SC but because she has ventured up to Boston to live here, now she is officially part of the club! Last night it was first time to cook for everyone and she did an amazing job!

Our Chef:

She had such a cute set up, with delicious apps!

Then she made Parmesan Chicken, with chopped salad and couscous!

It was so good - way to go S!!!

We were talking last night about mixing it up a bit next time.

Ideas:

1. Themed monthly Supper Clubs
2. Secret ingredient for a month (i.e guiness beer or chocolate or something obscure)
3. 'Best of's - making the top notch dishes that were really popular
4. Trading recipes and trying out someone else's dish they already made. I would really like to try and make fish!

So stay tuned...its about to get wild haha

Update on my trip to Baltimore

This past weekend was so intense, non stop eating, drinking, hanging out with family and friends while trying to keep up with all the drama :-)

Thursday night, I was supposed to go see my Dad and get dinner with him. Well that didnt happen, he actually got bit by a spider the weekend before and didn't see a doctor until his entire leg had swelled up and needed to go to the hospital. He stayed there from Wednesday through the entire weekend. Craziness.

So Lizzy and I headed home to see my Mom and eat dinner/drink wine. We ended up staying up pretty late just catching up, which was really nice.

Friday, I woke up and work from home. Then I met up with Abbie for a little shopping (we both are going to weddings the next day). Then go meet up with Mom and Lizzy to get toes done!

Friday night, I meet up with Allison and we head down to Canton. Ahh Canton - such an awesome night! Next time, I'm wearing jeans and a tee - no more cocktail outfits!

Saturday, we head to Havre de Grace for Colins wedding. It was such a nice ceremony and reception. My only complaint is that is was 90 degrees, and the ceremony was under direct sunlight - needless to say, we were all dripping. Then after we head into the Inn where the reception is, and my god - they didnt have any AC either, it was just one sweaty evening!

Then we head to the bar after the reception. That was just filled with more drama, but overall very fun night! We ended up staying at our little hobbit house which was perfect because it was only a block away from the bar everyone was going to that night:

Sunday, we head back to Towson, and meet up with my Dad who luckily just got released from the hospital for crabs and beer.

Night was ended with meeting up with Allison and Abbie getting coffee followed by an early 4am wake up to head to the airport.

Love Baltimore...should probably book my next ticket soon :-)

Upcoming Weekend

I'm heading back down to Balitmore! This time, its for Colin and Jenny's wedding! I've known Colin since we were teeny tiny, and I cannot believe he is getting married! This is the first of many to come of close friends tying the knot.

It works out perfect, because it is also father day's on Sunday. I think Big H wants crabs and beer - sounds good to me!

Apparently it is about 90 degrees and humid, lovely, I've only got shorts, t-shirts and dresses packed for Baltimore!

Hope everyone has a awesome weekend!

Book Club

Last night I got off work and headed to Davis Square for book club! It was so nice see everyone, and even though the book was a bit fluffy for our book club, it was a great jumping off point!

Overall Notes for The Carries Diaries:

1. This book is set in high school, between the movie (SATC2) being geared towards an older generation, and this book coming out, there was a huge age gap. We were hoping that this could have taken place with Carrie in her mid 20's. Perhaps introducing how Carrie met all the girls, and her wild stories of being young and single living in NYC would have been so much better!

2. I was hoping for more outrageous outfits being described. Although they mentioned a great bag here and there, I wanted more of Carrie describing the new fashion trends she was setting.

3. Boy drama - nothing too surprising there. Go after the hot, bad ass instead of the one that is nice, and truly cares about you. Overall, we all could definitely relate :-)

4. A couple of things didn't match up to the story plot on the movies and or tv series.

Overall, the book was cute. If you are looking for something that is a 'no brainer, easy read' go for this one!

Up next: THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET’S NEST, and THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE by Stieg Larsson. Apparently these are hot books right now, that are extremely hard to put down!

Monday Funday

Last night was so much fun. I was invited to sub in on one of my company's bowling teams. I could not even tell you the last time I bowled, so I was little nervous about going - I mean these guys are serious bowlers! We bowled at Kings right next to the Pru.

I did okay the first round - 87 I think (that's probably really bad, but it was decent for me). Then the second round I got 115, which was wayy better then the first time. By the end of the second round, we were down by 7 points. H steps up and bowls a strike, followed by a gutter ball, haha it was so lucky - absolutely amazing!

Then after, we went to Summer Shack. They have this crazy deal going on for the month of June, 10 for $10 on any seafood item. I didnt eat anything, something about oysters really doesn't set well with me, so I just got a $3 pbr instead :-)

Any avid Friends fans out there? Okay, I need help! I was trying to tell my friends last night about this one episode where Joey gets in this buffet line after someone that has spilled an oyster on the ground. Joey gets grossed out and says he thinks he stepped on a 'giant booger' hahah - I need to find that clip!! If anyone knows the exact episode, PLEASE let me know!

N - you're my hero!! Here is the clip, in case it was killing you to remember which episode it was!

Weekend Update!

My weekend was so much fun, even though the weather was nothing but rainy and chilly all weekend, I was all over the place!

Friday night, Z helped me get an AC Unit -thank god! Even though it was only in the mid 60's this weekend, I'm sure come July, I will be so happy to have this little bugger. Then we went out to the Pourhouse and Lir for a few drinks!

Then on Saturday, N and I headed towards Chinatown for some Dim Sum and ended up in the midst of the gay pride parade! I actually ended up attending three different gay pride events without even knowing it, it was awesome, so much fun to see all the support!

Then Saturday night, we went towards the Fenway area for dinner. S, N and I went for Mexican at La Verdad - absolutely the best mexican food (at the best price) that I've had in Boston. I got the very last torta (which apparently takes 3 days to make) they had, soo good!! I would recommend anyone that loves Mexican as much as I do, to definitely check this place out! And I heard they have $1 tacos on Tuesday - um, I'm so there. Then headed towards rattlesnake for a drink - which I guess was the after party for the parade, everyone was still in crazy outfits looking to get their dance on... haha it was certainly nothing I've seen before!

Then on Sunday, N and I just walked around the south end, walked through the block party on Stewart street:

Sunday night was finished with amazing Jamie Oliver cheese burgers that N made, followed by watching the Celtics game. N and I watched so many episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians, and E true Hollywood story of the Kardashians, that watching the game with Lamar Oden was actually pretty fun. We were trying to figure out if Khloe would be there, but I guess she doesn't like the Boston crowd too much. Haha put any reality star into a sports game, and I will definitely watch the game!

Such a fun weekend!

Highlights?!

I have finally decided to get a hair cut next week. Back in Janurary, I told myself that I would let my hair grow out until June 1st (not sure where that date came from) so now that it has come and gone, I've decided to get a little trim. I like the length of my hair - although the maintenance of my hair is a bit annoying. My hair is soo freaking thick that it takes a good 20 minutes to blow dry my hair in the morning.

So the REAL question is, should I get highlights?! My hair usually gets lighter in the summer time, but since I'll be inside majority of the summer, I'm wondering if I should turn to a more artificial way of lighting my hair.

Any suggestions?

Soo freaking excited!

Because I got a MACBOOK!!!! I've been using my iphone as a computer for about 2 years - I know semi ridiculous! So I broke down, saved my pennies and finally bought a macbook! Now, I'm hoping M will teach me how to use it!

I just got the basic one - just the Mac book because I'm not all that into graphic design, so I went with the bottom line one. It is absolutely adorable, I'm in love :-)

SC- summer cooking

Last night was my turn to cook for SC. I decided to make a homemade cole slaw with cranberries and walnuts, chicken kabobs and rice. I think it turned out really well!

The only thing that could have helped the chicken and cole slaw was time. The cole slaw could have sat for up to 6 hours but I just let it hang out for about an hour. And the chicken needed to marinate for 2 hours, but I only let it sit for about 30 min. Oh well - next time!

Need....

Cannot wait until I can go with my friend, Z, next week and get one!! Its like sitting in an oven that is one million degrees... I will be so happy to come home to my little ice box!

SC - Italian

Last night supper club was so much fun! We were all in different places for Memorial Day so it was nice to catch up with everyone!

Our chef for the evening:

She read this article in a magazine that talked about this cute little part of Italy where all the ingredients grow fresh for their recipes. This also allows for few ingredients for each course, which cuts down the costs!

For apps: Ricotta cheese fritters

Then for the salad, N put together this delicious toasted bread with olive oil, with a kind of mozzarella (can't think of the real name), then arugula that was covered in balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil.

Then the pasta was next! In the pasta: sardines...

I have to admit, I was a little freaked out - I mean those things look so nasty! But after chopping and dicing, you couldn't even taste them in the pasta!

It was soo good! Ni - you did an amazing job!!

On a side note - I do look a little mad in this photo but notice the dress, its target - only $25.00, everyone should go to target NOW

Happy Hump Day!

Baltimore Farmer's Market

Over the weekend I went home for Memorial day weekend and had a blast! My friends M and A, and I went to this farmers market that has the most amazing coffee, flowers, fresh produce, homemade goodies - you name, they have it!

Its actually located right under the 83 highway (see in the picture?)

My mom absolutely loves the pickles from 'the pickle guy' so I had to pick up a bunch for her!

Smoothies - but they are more fun because if you ride the bike, it blends the fruit!

They also had the most incredible hummus EVER! I picked up two different kinds - salt and vinegar and pb&j - strange right? But sooo good!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
