Im so happy I will be spending Easter in Baltimore!

Jcrew sale shopping

Yesterday I went into jcrew, just to have a look around - I know, I have a serious problem with jcrew :-).

Found a few items that were on an incredible sale. Like this bracelet (well technically mine is a bit skinnier and light purple, but it is enamel) on sale for $9.99.

I also bought a navy blue t-shirt STYLE dress (not material) that has pockets. On sale from $118 to $36.99 plus I had a coupon for 10% off my entire purchase. So basically it was free :-)

Then for fun, I bought this coral shade of Essie nail polish:

Found a dress for Alumni

Finally found a dress for alumni at this boutique in Davis Square...

(google image)

Can't decide if I actually want to keep it (I mean even the model doesn't look all THAT great haha) or find something else , like a simple dress from jcrew or something plain...who knows

The loot from Shecky's

I just HAD to take a picture of all the things we got in our goodie bags:

So much fun, oh and I found a few necklaces - one for myself and two for my cousins!

'Girls night out'

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm so excited, tonight should be a blast! A couple of friends and I are all going to this event called Shecky's girls night out. I went last year, and had to so much fun that I told everyone I knew that we have to go again this year!

Okay, brace yourself. It is $20, which gets you inside to all the glorious deals, free drinks, goodie bags full of all kinds of awesome products, and an amazing time without any boys standing over your shoulder asking you if 'you really need that' - please of course I need this glittery hot pink purse, kidding!

Last year, I got this necklace (which evidently I'm too rough with because I have broken the chain twice already, ugh) but its my fav, so I'm on the hunt this year, for another one!

(here's a pic of me wearing it, I'm in the middle, you have to squint a little bit, but its a little turquoise bead on a gold chain)

My dress dilemma

Welp I gave in, and ventured to Jcrew last night. Of course we have been on a break recently, but decided I haven't gone in a good 2 months, so now is the time! I went in a instantly fell in love with this skirt:

I think it will be so cute with sandals and a blazer or cardigan! I know, these skirts are a bit over played, but I couldn't resist the neon!

So, my dress dilemma. As many of my blog friends know, Alumni weekend (I hope everyone is going!!) is approaching very quickly. For this Alumni event, all the girls are required to buy an extremely cute, fun spring dress to wear on Saturday. This is the day where everyone goes to have bloodies and bagels in the morning, lacrosse game, then endless fraternity parties during the day. So - it's VERY important to have a good hardy dress that will last through the day and if your lucky, on another occasion after Roanoke College. So, I have been searching and searching and have found nothing! Absolutely nothing! You name it, I've been there - Jcrew, Gap, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Lord and Taylor, Anthropologie Lit on Newbury, Crush and Wish (boutiques on Newbury and Charles Street). I'm going to go to Baltimore soon so hopefully on the list is Nordstroms, and South Moon Under.

I know - surprised? I am, this is supposed to be fun/easy, especially at my fav store, jcrew! I did find this dress:

It fit like a glove, absolutely perfect! The only problem was, they only have a black one - great, I'm not going to a funeral, this will NOT work. So the lady checked all the jcrew's and apparently, this is THE dress to be had because it is sold out everywhere - even online! Ugh...the search is still on, stay tuned...

Have you ladies gotten a dress yet? Do you have any suggestions as to where I can find one? Help!

Chicken Stuffed Soft Pretzel- SC

So sorry I haven't posted in a few days. The weekend was so much fun, we did everything on the list and then some! The weather turned out to be beautiful which was perfect for a picnic on the Charles!

Then as Lizzy was leaving, I took her to the airport to drop her off, but her flight got canceled, which was so weird because it was gorgeous out! It turns out, there was some maintenance issue, so she got a free flight anywhere in the US - perhaps another trip to Boston, but I would understand if she wanted to use it for a trip out to Cali to visit the cousins!

Last night was supper club, and my god, it was so good! N took a recipe off of The food in my beard called Chicken Stuffed Soft Pretzel. And the dough for the pretzel is actually on this page.

Here are some of our pictures, even though the pics on that blog are way better.

For the green beans, she used Jamie Oliver's recipe. Which is fresh green beans, garlic, some olive oil, butter and Parmesan cheese.

I highly recommend making this recipe, I mean if you like chicken, cheese, pretzel dough, homemade honey mustard and cheesy green beans - this is for you!

Lizzy comes to Boston!

I'm so excited, tomorrow morning my youngest sister, LL is flying into Boston! I'm so glad its going to be sunny, and beautiful this weekend, perfect for being a tourist!

Friday's plan:
1. Pick Lizzy up from Logan
2. Bring her back to my apartment to drop her things off
3. SEE ALL OF BOSTON! Start by going down Newbury Street, cross the parks, walk through the financial district to Fanniel Hall. Eat lunch somewhere around there, then head towards the North End. Stop by Mikes pastries and Bobbles and lace! Then head back towards back bay, stopping by Charles Street to see all the little boutiques!

Saturday:
1. Picnic on the Charles with N and M - champs, and apps!
2. Make delicious pasta dinner (the creamy one that I made back in December)

So Excited!!!

(not the greatest pic, but we'll get a good one this weekend!)

Peep Love

So with Easter just around the corner, I can't help but get excited for my favorite treat:

I know, I know, so many think they are disgusting, but I absolutely love them, especially when you leave them open until they are stale...yum). I think they can attribute to my love for at least 5 splendas in my medium coffee every morning!

Also, tonight is M's turn for supper club, she is making Petit Steaks with Mushroom-Sherry Sauce off of one of my other favorite food blogs Noble Pig

Necklace Love

Currently obsessed with big chunky necklaces like these from anthropologie:

From jcrew:

And with these more simpler ones from anthropologie:

My weekend was really good!

The bus to CT only took about and hour and half, for only $20 each way...I still cant get over how easy it was to get there!

So, Friday night Bre came and picked me up and we went back to her really cute apt (its right on the water, off the cutest shopping/restaurant street). Then we went out, saw Bre's bf and his friends, then left and met up with Krista’s friends who are super nice and very welcoming for drinks and dancing!

Saturday, we got up, got breakfast then ventured to forever21 early so we could miss all the little teenie-boppers. I got 4 white tanks, a jean jacket, head band, nail polish, brown t-shirt and floral bubble skirt all for like $60 – seriously love that store. Then we went to lunch with Krista and her friends, after sushi we headed back to her apartment to watch sex and the city. Then on sat night we hung low, went out for Mexican and went back to Bre's apt and watched more Sex and the City and drank some wine.

Yesterday we got breakfast at this cute little diner then headed to the train station to say good bye and head home.

It was such a good weekend, I can't wait to go back, especially when it is warm out!

So excited to see my best friend Bre this weekend!

I've definitely needed a mini vaca, and geting out of Boston for a little bit, and heading to Connecticut for the weekend is going to be perfect. The plan - drink too much, shop too much, eat too much!! SO excited!!

My Mom's Cake Cookies

Last night I decided to make these amazingly easy and delicious cookies for my work pot luck on Friday.

Need:
8 oz. of cream cheese (room temp)
1 stick of butter (room temp)
1 egg
1 tsp. of vanilla extract
box of devils food chocolate cake mix
Confectionery sugar

1. Combine cream cheese, vanilla extract, egg, and butter together. Then add in the chocolate cake mix very S L O W L Y. It will get extremely thick and can break your mixer if you don't add the cake mix slowly.

(sorry I forgot to take a picture, but there is a lot more batter than it appears)

2. Roll the dough into little balls and cover them in confectionery sugar.

3. Pop into the oven at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

4. Then take them out and place them on a cooling rack.

My New Fav Song - Taio Cruz 'Break your heart'

My work friend is currently my new DJ, you definitely should check out his blog, Music is my king sized bed he knows so much about music and is always up to date with the hottest songs!

Lord and Taylor

So yesterday on my lunch break I decided to go visit Lord and Taylor and have a look around. Of course, I cant go into a store without falling in love with something. So I bough two shirts, one French connection ruffled t-shirt:

And a BCBG generation tank top. I couldn't find a picture, but it has grey and white horizontal strips. Its a flowy top, that also has pockets of the same material, however the pattern is going vertical.

When I go to pay for my two tops, I ask the sales girl if there are any coupons that I could possibly use. She looks at me slightly disgusted then says 'no that coupon is only for items on sale'. Oh okay, no biggie, I'll buy them anyways and go on my way. Once I got back to my desk, I just thought I should check to make sure that the girl was telling the truth, and low and behold she was lying. Just to make a few extra pennies!

I printed out the coupon (which expires that same day) and made a plan to go back to the store, and demand some cash back. Once I left work, I went back to the store, and found the same girl (I know, a little bitchy but whatever) and showed her the coupon. She said she wasn't sure if it would apply, but fine, she would try. And as it turns out, it DID work - saved me $17.40!

I know, I know, they are just trying to make money, they do earn their salaries off of commission, I get that. However, I used to work in customer service, you try to help the customer out, and see what you can do to help them! At least, that was always my philosophy - make the customer happy with a discount, and they will come back!

Weekend

This past weekend was a lot of fun. On Saturday all the girls got together to have apps and drinks before going out to meet up with the rest of the Roanoke girls. For my app I made the Lemon Cheesecake Ball from Annie Eats, except instead of Lemon, I used a couple of limes which made the cheese ball more of a key lime pie taste, and personally I loved it!

Then on Sunday, I met up with Nikki, and we headed to Chinatown for some Dim Sum - our usual Sunday destination. Soon they will understand that we need plenty of dipping sauces and a pitcher of water.

Shopping

While waiting for my laundry to be finished, I was walking around Charles Street and decided to go into this vintage shop. I was looking around, and found these two pairs of sandals, a pair of jcrew leather flip flops and a pair of jack rogers. They were practically brand new (they didn't have a tag on them, but definitely didn't look like they had been warn at all, even the soles looked perfect). Even if they had been warn, they are just sandals, doesn't really freak me out...does it for you?

I paid $18.00 for these (mine actually have a dark brown bottom and gold straps):

I paid $28 for these:

The most hassled laundry experience EVER

Last night I decided I needed to get my laundry done. Since I do not have a laundry machine in my building, its a huge commitment. So I packed up everything in my duffel bag and set off to Beacon Hill where they have a laundry mat.

After I walked the 5ish blocks, stopped by an ATM for cash, I was ready. Everything went into ONE laundry machine - it all fit, so thats fine right? Maybe not, oh well, I continued on, put the dry soap (thats all they had) into the machine and waited about 25 minutes. I did do a little shopping on the side, but that can be later.

After I come back, and need to switch my laundry to the dryer, I notice a ton of little white beads EVERYWHERE - so I guess the dry soap didnt work at all...great. Whatever, onto the dryer. I put it in three different machines to dry. Since I got $5 worth of quarters before for the washing machine, I still had a few quarters left over. After filling each of the machines with about 14 minutes worth of quarters, I need to get more. The machine DOESN'T have any more quarters...what. the. hell.

So after 14 minutes, I neatly fold up my sopping wet clothes and put back into my duffel bag. IT weighs twice as much as it did before, great. Walk the 5ish blocks home, lug it up 7 flights of stairs (its really 5, but the flights are extra long) into the tiny apartment. Where I then proceed to hang up every. single. piece. of. clothing. SO annoying. At least by today I will have clean clothes...

Happy Thursday!

Chicken Gyros and Greek Salads

Supper club was a lot of fun last night. I made dinner at my little place, which wasn't too bad. It just sucks that we all can't hang out in the kitchen while I cook because there isn't enough room :-( Oh well, someday...

For the chicken:

4 cloves garlic, smashed
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tsp. red wine vinegar (I thought I had red wine vinegar, but actually only had balsamic vinegar, so I just went with it...tasted pretty good)
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
2 heaping tbsp. plain yogurt
1 tbsp. dried oregano
Salt and pepper
1 1/4 lbs. chicken pieces

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, then cover it up and set in the frig to marinate for about an hour. After, cook the chicken regularly - I made it in a skillet:

Then toast the pita bread in the oven. Slather on some of the delicious tzatziki sauce (made the night before and it turned out amazing, still have a large amount left over, so I'll have to think of something creative to do with it...) add the chicken, lettuce, a little bit of feta, and tomatoes (if you like them) then you'll be good to go!

For the salad dressing:

1/4 cup red wine vinegar (same issue as the chicken, didn't have it, but went with the balsamic instead)
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

Then for the salad:

Romaine lettuce
Sliced red onions
Sliced black olives (I actually hate olives and left them out, and I also forgot to get them at the store...oops)
Grape tomatoes, halved (I actually hate tomatoes as well, so I just cut up a normal tomato because I don't really think/know if it makes a difference grape tomatoes vs a regular one...so..yea...)
Cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
Crumbled feta cheese

Greek Festival

Okay well not technically, but tonight is supper club and I have decided to make Chicken Gyros and a greek salad (both were found from Annie Eats!) Thank god for T, because he pointed out that I need to make the tzatziki sauce ahead of time (like 24 hours ahead of time!). So last night I got all of the ingredients for the sauce, and of course I needed a couple of extra kitchen items for this to be done successfully...

Need (I made a different version than Annie Eats):
2-3 large cucumbers
2 cloves of garlic
2 cups of greek plain non fat yogurt
Greek seasoning
salt (to taste)

Grate (notice the new grater that was purchased last night?!) the cucumbers and drain the excess water:

Chop (notice the spiffy new knife...also new) up the garlic:

Then add the yogurt and greek seasoning:

My little home improvement

Since we have started Supper Club, every time I want to make something new, I've needed to purchase some kind of new kitchen utensil or appliance while trying to add to my continuous spice collection (before supper club, I only had salt and pepper!). This brought on the need for a spice rack. I just wanted something little where a few spices could be collected on (right now they are living in the bottom drawer of my frig...I know, pretty pathetic). Then I went to Marshalls over the weekend and found exactly what I was looking for...Ta Da..(and it was only 6.99)!!

(Okay not the greatest pic, but my quality of life has sky rocketed from it...haha)
