Girls Day on a Regular Tuesday

This week I had the pleasure of meeting up with my roommate Nia for an afternoon of good food, drinks, a little shopping and much needed catching up.

We first headed to get lunch at a Parish Cafe, a place that can guarantee amazing sandwiches that are all a little out of the ordinary - you certainly wont find your run of the mill turkey and cheese sandwich here.

Whenever I go out to eat, I usually like to try something new, something that I would never make myself. Hence the The Schlesinger:

The Schlesinger is Monterey jack cheese on warm banana nut bread topped with smoked ham and sided with a mango chutney. Served with picked ginger cabbage.

Strange? Of course - but it was surprisingly the best sandwich/dish I've had in a long time. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty offering different textures and colors. I am definitely getting this again when I go back!

Nia went with a great version of chicken salad called The Bond Herb Roasted Chicken Salad:

The Bond Herb Roasted Chicken Salad is a roasted chicken breast mixed with sweet garlic aioli, roasted red onions, scallions, thyme and tarragon served on an italian sub roll with sliced tomatoes, romaine lettuce and crisp fried onions. Served with homemade potato salad.

This was an amazing sandwich as well. Normally I don't care for mayo sandwiches - tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad - you get the point, something with the texture, the taste of mayo, it just grosses me out. However, this sandwich, because they use a garlic aioli, it hides the mayo taste making it a great sandwich to order as well.

Anyone in the boston area looking for a great lunch spot or date spot, I would definitely recommend this joint.

New Glasses

I desperately need a new pair of glasses. My current pair is from the 7th grade, and it's safe to say they've been through A LOT. Not to mention the prescription is horribly outdated (I can barely see the tv for crying out loud), but over the years, Carson (the dog) has stepped on them/carried them around in her mouth, I've fallen asleep wearing them, AND I've been known to just throw them into by bag without a case - I know, so its no wonder they are just about on their last leg.

Cute huh?

So the mission for fun, cute glasses that I could wear outside the house begins. I'd like something stylish without looking 'too hipster'. I'm first going to try this sweet site called Warby Parker that my roommate told me about. Its a site where their prescription glasses are around $100 and you can pick out 5 pairs for them to send you, try them all on and send back whichever pairs you didn't like - coolest site ever? I think so! Its like zappos for glasses.

Stay tuned!

Jewelry Storage

Recently been thinking about how to upgrade the way I organize my jewelry. I have a pretty good system for my necklaces and rings, however, my bracelets are EVERYWHERE.

The Mess:

A pretty box from crate and barrel:

Absolutely love this one from anthropologie:

This one is a bit more in my budget though (also from anthro):

I dont really know - how do you organize your bracelets? Any suggestions would be awesome!

The Hunger Games

Before heading to Florida a few weeks ago, N got me hooked on reading the Hunger Games series. These books are so intense, I literally had to say 'no mere, sorry I cant walk down the beach right now, I have to finish this damn book!'

Seriously - pick it up, it is really good!

Good Fortune

Last week N and I went to get dinner, we were going to try a new restaurant in Boston called the Salty Pig, but after meeting a friend for a drink at PFChangs, we both got a craving for chinese food.

It's always nice to get a good fortune when things feel a bit out of sync, weird how the meaningful ones come at the right time.

Mine:
('In dreams and in life, nothing is impossible.')

N's:
('He who grabs the last lettuce wrap is the least hungry.')

Bar Crawl in Baltimore

This past weekend I had a great time in Baltimore with my best high school friends going on my first bar crawl! They all wanted to dress up wearing ninja turtle themed outfits, so we got the hats, koozies, sunglasses and all to dress the part!

Each bar had a different special - shots and beers that all were less than $5 each - amazing. Seriously, I wish Boston had these kind of specials - well actually, I don't think that would be good, I would get nothing done....
